Staff
Ryan Duncan
In 1997, Ryan Duncan founded Speed
Inc. located in Atlanta Georgia. Ryan and his superbly trained
staff have specialized in training teams in the cutting edge of
applied sport science. Speed Inc. has become well regarded as being
the best in team speed development, as well as in training top
individual athletes.
Ryan attended Landmark
High School where he was an all state quarterback and winner
of various other awards in both football and track. Ryan then
received a football scholarship to Liberty University in Lynchburg,
VA to play for NFL coach of the year, Sam Rutigliano, of the
Cleveland Browns. He graduated in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science
degree in Sports Management with minors in Exercise Science,
Nutrition, Psychology, and Theological Biblical Study’s.
Coach Duncan has trained thousands of athletes
at all levels and has not only proven his knowledge of performance
development, but also his outstanding ability to teach his program
to athletes of all ages. Ryan is regarded to be one of the top
up and coming speed /movement coaches in the country. His never
ending strive to take the modern applied sciences of neurology
and physiology to the every day training of athletes of all levels
will always keep his athletes on top.
Hayes Mercure
While in high school, Hayes was a stand-out athlete
and 4-year letterman in both football and track and field. Hayes
played a variety of positions in football ranging from fullback,
halfback, quarterback, and tight end. And defensively, he played
defensive end and linebacker. In track and field, Hayes was a region
champion in the 100m high hurdles, and runner-up in discus. He
competed in both events in the Georgia track and field state championship.
Hayes was a member of the four-time state championship track and
field team at Landmark. Hayes attended Auburn University, where
he played football for the Tigers as a safety and eventually moving
to linebacker. His sophomore year, he transferred to the University
of West Georgia, where he was a starter at linebacker, before starting
his final two seasons at tight end. Hayes has been coaching SPEED,
Inc. camps since 2001, and has enjoyed every minute of it.
Roby Ross
Roby was a graduate of Landmark Christian
School, where he was a stand-out athlete and letterman in football,
basketball, baseball and track. Roby was also the valedictorian
of his class. After high school, he attended Berry College where
he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physical
Education, and then furthered his education with a Master’s
of Education Degree in Middles Grades Education from Berry College,
as well. After college, Roby returned to Landmark Christian School
as a football coach in 1996. While coaching football, Roby has
been a part of 5 Regional Championships and 10 Playoff Appearances.
He is the current Defensive Coordinator for the Landmark War Eagles.
Roby also started coaching track in 1996 and since then has earned
11 Regional Championships and 12 State Championships, setting a
record for most consecutive state championships in track and field
in Georgia. Roby is also the current Dean of Students at Landmark
Christian School. Roby has been a speed Inc. coach since 1999.
Chad Walker
Chad was a record-setting wide receiver
for the University of West Georgia. While playing football at
UWG, Chad broke 11 school records, and currently still holds
8 of those records. Chad was named to 2 All-American teams, was
the 1995 Division II Offensive Player of the Year and MVP, and
was also the 1996 Athlete of the Year for the State of Georgia.
Chad was also selected for the 1995 Division II All-Star Game.
After college, Chad was a member of the New England Patriots
in 1995, and then a member of the New York Jets in 1996. Chad
earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical
Education from the University of West Georgia, and then went on
to earned a Master’s Degree in Administration from Jacksonville
State University. After his playing days were over, Chad was a
wide receivers coach at the University of West Georgia from 1995-1996,
before moving to Wheeler High School, where he was an assistant
football coach from 1997-1999. He was also the Head Track Coach
at Wheeler High from 1998-2004. As the head track coach, Chad won
the State AAAAA Championship in Track and Field in 2003. Chad is
currently the Head Track Coach at Starr’s Mill High School
and also a wide receivers coach for the Starr’s Mill football
team. Chad has been a top coach for SPEED, Inc. since 2001.
Chris Rentz
Chris has been a member of the SPEED, Inc. coaching
staff since 2001. Chris was a Track and Field two time state champion
in the 400m Relay as well a four year letterman in Football.
After High School Chris went on to run track in college. He is
a graduate from the University of West Georgia where he earned
his degree in Physical Education and Health. Chris currently
coaches football and track at Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville,
Georgia. He is the quarterback and running back coach for football
and the sprint coach for track. Chris has been able to implement
the SPEED program at Chapel Hill. The success of this program
has had an immediate impact. This past season, the girl’s
track team finished 2nd at region, and Chris led the boy’s
team to a region championship.
Riley Swanson
Riley is a graduate of Sandy Creek
High School, where he was an award-winning cornerback and wide
receiver for the Patriots. He was a three-year starter and was
named to the Georgia High School “Super
11” team his senior year, placing him as one of the best
11 football players in the state of Georgia. He was also selected
to the First Team All-Coweta/Fayette County, a two-time all-region
selection, and a Class AAAA all-state selection. After high school,
Riley signed a full scholarship with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons,
where he was a three-year starter at cornerback. He was named the
to the All-ACC Freshman team and was the team’s top freshman
in terms of tackles. Riley left Wake Forest ranked fourth all-time
in the career passes defended list. He was acquired by the Buffalo
Bills in 2007. Riley has been a member of the SPEED, Inc. coaching
staff since 2003.
Kyle Harrell
Kyle is a graduate of Livingston High School
in Livingston, Texas. While at Livingston High, Kyle was a stand-out
offensive lineman, where he earned a football scholarship to
Southwest Texas University as an offensive lineman. While playing
for the Bobcats, Kyle was a three-year starter as an offensive
guard earning himself All-Conference honors his senior year.
Three times, he was on the Commissioner’s
List for academic performance. He graduated from Southwest Texas
with a degree in Exercise Sports Science and took a coaching job
with Caney Creek High School, where he served as the offensive
line and tight ends coach. After spending a year at Caney Creek,
Kyle moved to Cinco Ranch High School, where he was the varsity
offensive line coach and also the junior varsity head coach. After
working three years with Cinco Ranch High, Kyle returned to his
alma mater as the head Strength and Conditioning for Southwest
Texas University. Kyle has been a member of the SPEED, Inc. staff
since 2001.
J.R. Lemon
Along with Riley Swanson, J.R. Lemon is
a graduate of Sandy Creek High School, where he was an all-star
running back. He was a consensus All-American, be recognized
as one of the top running backs in the nation. J.R. was a finalist,
in 2000, for the prestigious Watkins Award, which is given annually
to the nation’s top African-American
high school football player. He was ranked No.37 on the SuperPrep’s
Elite 50 list of the nation’s top recruits. SuperPrep also
ranked him the sixth best running back in the nation. PrepStar
selected J.R. to its “Dream Team” and ranked him as
the eighth best running back in the nation. After high school,
J.R. was a stand-out running back for the Stanford University Cardinals.
While at Stanford, J.R. was a 4-year starter and was ranked ninth
all-time on the touchdown list. In 2006, J.R. was a member of the
Oakland Raiders as a running back. He has been a SPEED, Inc. coach
since 2001.
Reggie Ellington
Reggie, along with Riley Swanson and J.R. Lemon,
is also a graduate of Sandy Creek High School. While at Sandy Creek,
Reggie was an all-state running back where he tallied up 1,150
yards rushing and led the team with 16 touchdowns his senior season.
He also led his team to the State Championship his senior year
and was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player. Reggie also ran
track for the Patriots where he was a member of the 4x100 meter
relay team that broke the school record. After high school, Reggie
signed a football scholarship to Charleston Southern University,
where is currently a running back for the Buccaneers. Reggie has
been a SPEED, Inc. coach since 2007.
Martin Huggins
Martin has been a member of the SPEED, Inc. coaching
staff since 2005. Martin attended Woodward Academy where he was
an all-state wide receiver and safety. He was a First Team All-Region
and also First Team All-Georgia-Florida All-Star Free Safety. Martin
also lettered in track and basketball while at Woodward Academy.
After high school, Martin attended the United States Naval Academy
where he played wide receiver for the Midshipmen. In 2002, Martin
transferred from the Naval Academy to the University of North Alabama,
where he was a three-year starter at wide receiver for the Lions.
Over those three years, Martin tallied up over 1,000 yards receiving.
He was voted Team Captain his senior year. Martin is currently
the Service Programming Director at Southside Church in Peachtree
City, Georgia.
